ALLIANCE YOUTH CHAIR HAILS 2008 FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT 

Alliance Youth Chair Stephen Martin today called on all young people to do their part to make this year’s Fairtrade Fortnight (February 25th to March 7th) a huge success.   

Stephen commented   ‘Alliance Youth is fully supportive of the Fairtrade movement here in Northern Ireland in their efforts to make the 2008 Fairtrade Fortnight bigger and better than ever before.  The global fair trade movement today continues to press the case for changes in our international trading system to allow for better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world.  We have a huge role to play in making the Fairtrade choice when we purchase goods.  Together we can help address some of the harsh realities of conventional international trade.  Do your part and check out your local Fairtrade events over the next fortnight and see what a difference our consumer choices can make.’
